Coinstar coin counting machine: Our first experience!

This was our first experience with the Coinstar coin counting machine, found in many grocery stores, in this case, Star Supermarket, School St, Honolulu, Hawaii. This young Japanese boy really enjoys searching for rare coins. Some minutes before, I indulged his interest and purchased worth of pennies and of nickels at the bank. He sorted through them, and found a few pennies and nickels he liked. The problem then was how to get rid of the change. We went into a supermarket and originally, I was going to just buy some groceries, but then we spotted the Coinstar coin counting machine. He convinced me to try it and so I did, as neither of us had ever tried using one. We got rid of all our pennies and a few nickels. Coinstar has a website: www.coinstar.com where you can also read about other experiences users have had with their machines. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

Get a metal detector. Best way to find old coins there. Youtube videos on metaldetecting are quite addictive. That would be fun at the beach there with your son.

    Good luck

I noticed several times, that the camera man told the young man bad information. First off, when reading the disclaimer/fee’s on the Coinstar machine you were more worried about the portion about damaged coins being kicked back than the 9 cents on the dollar fee you were about to pay. Gotta love the “Cha Ching” sound the machine makes when he hit cash out, that’s the sound of being ripped off my friend, nice one. Teach the young man to not rush, and not to take the quick easy way out. Thanks!
